‘Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale‘ is a Big Success Even Overseas With Over 700,000 Viewers

The anime movie Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale has been showing in Japanese cinemas since 18 February 2017, ranking first in the box office in it’s first week and has sold over 1.2 million tickets as of 14 March 2017, earning 1.7 billion yen at the box office. Recently the 4DX/MX4D screening started in 184 cinemas all over Japan, gaining more and more viewers.

This movie is also receiving a lot of attention from people overseas in America, Asia and Europe, having been viewed by 700,00 people, and earning 600 million yen in box office revenues.
The movie opened in North America on 9 March 2017. It started off as a big hit, earning 1.35 million dollars (~150 million yen) in it’s first four days. This is the highest box office intake an Aniplex of America film has ever received in it’s opening weekend.

The movie will come to cinemas in many countries, such as Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, the UK and Italy.
In Germany, France and North America a dubbed version will be available.
