The Nintendo Switch continues to perform well as an entry to hybrid consoles — working as both a traditional console and a handheld. Nintendo’s gaming peers, Sony and Microsoft, so far have not announced a console that’s comparable in style. Microsoft’s Xbox hasn’t entered the handheld fray at all while the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita had trouble successfully breaking into Western markets. Both companies may be content letting Nintendo rule the portable realm, but German tech blog Curved created a mock-up anyway.
In the video, the blog staff imagine what a PlayStation Vita competitor could look like. The idea combines and tablet-size screen that lays flat and then unlocks up. Two handheld triggers can be detached from the screen or combined together to make a Dual Shock controller.
The idea is an interesting one, although it takes quite a bit of inspiration from the Switch. Would Sony fans be interested in a portable console like this? Let us know in the forums.
