Nyaruko: Crawling with Love! light novel author Manta Aisora debuted Hero Onii-chan to Last Boss Imōto Bakken! Seikenzer (The Hero Big Brother and the Last Boss Little Sister Draw a Sword! Seikenzer) with art by Yū Kodama last month. The hero comedy story follows the Tsurugi twins: Kanato the older brother and Minato the younger sister. Minato had returned from studying abroad, and the pair go to a local event. Kanato draws a “holy sword” and summons the mysterious knight team Blood Temple. Kanato sets out to bring his sister under control after she seems to become a force for evil. Kanato refuses to yield in battle, and the transformed siblings face off.
Despite all the heroics, Aisora’s newest novel failed to perform and publisher GA Bunko has decided against continuing the novel series.
Aisora said on Twitter, “Ah, about Hero Onii-chan to Last Boss Imōto, it surprisingly didn’t sell, so it will end with one volume.” The writer added, “I’m sorry because my incompetence is to blame… Sorry….”
Despite the abrupt end in publication, fans of the novel still have reason to hope for more story. Aisora said, “But the manuscript does have parts for three volumes….” Because she already prepared more story, Aisora is considering posting the rest on the free novel and short story publishing website Kakuyomu. However, due to the print publishing deal that has just come to a close, she is not completely sure if it is acceptable to post the remaining parts. Aisora thinks the submissions will likely be erased if posting them is not allowed.
Aisora previously adapted Kotoyama‘s Dagashi Kashi manga into a light novel. Aisora’s Haiyore! Nyaruko-san light novel series inspired two 12-episode TV anime adaptations in 2012 and 2013, respectively. The series also inspired a two-episode original video animation, a web animation series, and a series of TV anime shorts.
